Education

Lindsey Williams (she/her) is based in New Jersey, USA. Her creative process is linked to her professional practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has been a mental health therapist and an artist since 2017. Her educational background includes earning a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from The College of New Jersey. During undergrad, she served as a research assistant for three mental health studies about racial bias, gambling, and the educational experience of international students in America. Also, Lindsey completed clinical internships in diverse environments, including a county correctional facility, a forensic case management organization, a youth case management organization, a nonprofit shelter for families with medically ill children, and a substance rehabilitation private practice.

Creative Purpose

Lindsey is a self-taught artist. She began painting in 2017 because a friend encouraged her to try it for cathartic self-expression. She was also inspired by the performing arts community in Jersey City, NJ, where she frequently visited during early adulthood. The creative exposure convinced her that art is accessible, unifying, and essential. After painting privately for three years, she realized that she was developing an artistic style. She noticed throughout the years that specific artworks continued to serve as focal points for meditating and self-reflection. Then, she wondered if sharing her artwork could help other people practice mindfulness and she dreamt about how that could improve society at-large. Lindsey believes that sharing art is like sharing a good idea, which is why she began publicizing her artwork in January 2022.
