Biography

Lindsey Williams (she/her) is an American artist and a mental health therapist based in New Jersey, USA. Her creative process is linked to her professional practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has been a mental health therapist and an artist since 2017. Her educational background includes earning a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University in 2016 and a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from The College of New Jersey in 2014. During undergrad, she served as a research assistant for three mental health studies about racial bias, gambling, and the educational experience of international students in America. Also, Lindsey completed several undergraduate clinical internships in diverse environments, including a county correctional facility, a forensic case management organization, a youth case management organization, a nonprofit shelter for families with medically ill children, and a substance rehabilitation private practice.

Lindsey is a self-taught artist. She began painting in 2017 because a friend encouraged her to try it to express creativity. Also, she was inspired by the performing arts community in Jersey City, NJ, where she frequently visited during early adulthood. The exposure convinced her that art is accessible, diverse, and unifying.

After painting as a cathartic hobby for three years, she realized that her coping skill was developing a body of work consisting of themes and characters. Lindsey believes that sharing a piece of art is like sharing an idea, which is why she decided to publicize her artwork beginning in January 2022.

Being inquisitive about the vastness of human potential is what motivates Lindsey to remain a creative person every day.
